After coaching gymnastics since 1980 Ian and Marion Dale decided to set up their own gymnastic club, and on January 9th 1989 Mo-Gylity was formed, with an aim to bring the sport of gymnastics to as many children as possible whatever their ability.  The first classes were held at Woodhouse Sports Centre in Tamworth where the children could learn skills on floor, vault and beam.   The club quickly grew and Ian and Marion realised that they would soon need more equipment to cater for Women's & Men's Artistic Gymnastics.  They rented a small building that belonged to the local council, which was once the changing rooms for the outdoor swimming pool, and in this building they trained gymnasts to competition level assisted by daughter Vicki and son Kevin both  gymnasts themselves.  With the opening of Peaks Leisure Centre attached to the Snowdome, Mo-Gylity moved across the road to take up residence in the main sports hall.  In 2011 The Snowdome decided to turn the sports hall that Mo-Gylity used into a keep fit room for their members, the time had come for a move and so after approaching various bodies the club moved the Snowdome classes into Belgrave Sports Centre in Birds Bush Rd. This was a much bigger venue with good access and free parking, since moving there in September 2011 the club has once again started to grow.  Woodhouse had now become an academy (Landau Forte) and after a rebuild Mo-Gylity moved into the brand new sports hall again with much more room.  The club has had various successes, not the least has been winning the British Gymnastics Club of the Year Award for the West Midland Region on five separate occasions. Various club coaches and members have won the Tamworth Herald Sports Personality Award for gymnastics. Mo-Gylity has participated and taken medals in competitions at local, regional and national levels.  There is now a strong competition squad of girls and boys at Mo-Gylity as well as lots of children who attend the Pre-School and recreational classes to keep fit or just to have fun.  Anyone wanting more information about Mo-Gylity, or would like to take part in a class can do so by contacting Marion or Ian Dale on 01827-312561 or E-mail

Please note that as of September 2019 Mo-Gylity is no longer affiliated to British Gymnastics. We are now affiliated to UK Gymnastics.
